MAY EVENT: PEND d'OREILLE WINERY

On Sunday, May 20, 2001, twenty-one members and guests were treated to the wines of Pend d'Oreille Winery, in this writer's opinion Idaho's finest winery. Steve Meyer owner/winemaker was on hand to present wines spanning his 6 year career. A 2000 Riesling from the Ellis Family Vineyard in Lewiston opened the tasting with 3.2 percent residual sugar but balanced with enough bracing accidity to leave one's palate delighted and refreshed. This wine is available only at the winery so plan a trip north and say howdee to Steve over a friendly glass of wine. The work horse of the portfolio is his award wining Bistro Rouge. An everyday red of extraordinary quality. Also included were barrel samples of syrah and a stunning 98 merlot. Catch Idaho's newest rising star; sensible wines at sensible prices to seduce the senses.

Check out the winery web site at http://www.powine.com/ Their web site features information about the winery and their wines, and a printable map with directions to the winery.
