Peter Mika will lead a tasting of ten vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon from Burgess Cellars in the Napa Valley. This unique event features mature Cabernets from 1973, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982 and 1986 from the Society Library collection. Also included will be their current release from 1997 which was considered one of the best vintages of the decade. The Wine Spectator rated this wine "90 Points" and commented: "The tightly focused currant, berry, coffee, herb, chocolate and cedar flavors of this Napa Cab are ripe and concentrated, holding their richness on the long finish". In general, Oz Clarke rates Burgess Cellars very high and considers them very polished and sometimes elegant. The cabernet vines are typically grown in the winery's mountain vineyards which contribute to their unique character.
Only one bottle of each vintage is available and this will be a limited seating. Make sure to register early by returning the coupon enclosed with this newsletter if you are interested in attending. St. Mark's is not a sponsor of this event.
